The last (first reset) was done on purpose, it was to stabilize the GW economy, they did that by making all merchants in all districts (America / Europe / Korea / ect.) in line with each other(stopped people from buying in one conutry's district and selling in another). By reseting the prices on everything they brought all the traders into one category so if you buy something playing in the Europe server it will affect the prices in the other servers and yadda yadda. The dev's have nothing to answer as they let us know this already. I just wish I wasn't at work when it went down the first time.

This time they are fixing it as it was a mistake and would destroy the economy that they stabilized.

A whole four hours I got to wait to play the game but at least I am finally going to leave my game at the login screen so I can get the update.

However can someone please explain this to me.

Lat time there was an intentional reset can anyone explain to me the logic of that. Well only why that price reset was going to be beneficial to the economy of the game. I am not an economics genius. I know some people who got rich last time of that reset.

In similar terms can it also be explained to me why this particular unplanned reset is going to be so destructive to the economy.

Why beneficial the first time and destructive the second time is all I am asking. All I have maybe lost is selling some of my parchement a bit of gold maybe and 1 fame only gained in heroes before we got net error 13.

I really feel sorry for those who gained some awesome drop in FOW/UW or perhaps a real sup absorb did drop for some people.

Yet another reason why installing a "price reset" button into your mmorpgs mainframe is not a good idea. Either that or someones mistake is about to get them very fired, very quickly.

At least now I get to do an interesting experiment I had a bunch of gold Ettin pauldrons before the chaos started, and I Identified them all and got rid of the crappy ones to make room during the update. So if the game is rolled back and I identify them again will I get the same runes? hmmm..

The rollback is needed as last time prices reset the prices actually increased as more and more players bought the items, but I think the Guild Wars economy could have survived without the reset since I believe a large portion of the money gained from the glitch would be used for fissure/factions armor thus taking it out of the economy anyways.

Sigh, guru is really buggy today too..

I just got a perfect gold shadow blade from FoW, oh well :S

But, this time was an accident, obviously, and when millions of morons buy everything that they can possible keep..then, about 50% of the population would have FoW armor, Sup Absorption, crafting materials etc.

Re-rolling is the only thing they could do, and i applaud them for it.

I will regret never getting to use my sword tho :-(

so lasttime was intentional?.so what you are all saying is last time they ment to make people rich from all the ecto they bought up and others lose money from the monk runes they had just found.

last time i was in la when people started going crazy about the traders and never felt the need to join in.this time i was in rankor and saw players selling sup abs and vigor for 10k each and thought to myself "ah another trade reset no doubt" while quickly getting back out to snakes to find the elem or monk griffon.most will flame me as a lier but i have no interest in cheating and a sudden price crash,to me at least,is an obvious sign of a balls up with the traders and there for i will not join in with the,IMHO,cheating.same reason i have played through the whole game 4 times with out being ran anywhere or through any missions.

From Gaile Gray: Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve the issue with the trader reset. We wanted to let you know that the game will be accessible at about 8:30 p.m. PST tonight (4:30 GMT). It will take us that period of time to do the rollback and to assure that all is in proper working order.

Please be aware that we are very sensitive to the fact that rollbacks are not a player-pleasing thing. I remember being involved with a game that had a one-week rollback a few years ago. We know that for the player who has completed a mission, or who has acquired a special drop, this is particularly irritating. For those who didn't exploit the accidental reader reset, it's particularly regretable that we must do a roll-back. But truly, it must be done. It must be done for the good of the game, and for the maintenance in value of all that you have acquired. It must be done in the interests of partity and balance and, well, all that's right and fair.

We're very sorry, and we'll see you later this evening, in the game, with all set right in the game world. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Well I to was shocked. I didnt even know there was a problem until I was at a VERY busy Rare Materials Trader selling some Vellum. I occasionally check to see what Ecto & such are going for and noticed the prices of shards & gems. I too did grab a few, but by the time I got to storage and back he was out.

At first I was upset that I wasnt able to get more. Now I have NEVER sold anything to anyone. I was hoping to get them (especially the gems) in case they are needed in Factions. After this I tried to go to another town and found it was blocked.

This is when the lock down started. When I first heard the rumor about a reset of the game to a few hours before I to was upset. All of my work up to that point will be lost, but then reality set in.

This is just a game. Yes I put in the time but I can do things again. No I might not get the same drops, but who knows, maybe they will be better!

As for as everyone saying this is unfair, well I say to bad. What did you think GW would do when they became aware of the problem? Oh I know some of you if asked by GW to just give the items back would have done so, but there are those who with the temptation to make a quick buck would have held out to try and sell the items.

I am sure that all of you who are complaining that it is not fair to lose these "cheap" items have NEVER made a mistake. No one is perfect. I hope whoever or whatever happened doe NOT cost anyone a job. People are human, mistakes WILL happen. I do no think that this mistake has physically harmed anyone.

Again, just deal with it. ANET has done an OUTSTANDING job and being they are run by real humans then a mistake or two will happen.

ANET keep up the GREAT work and thanks for the rollback!

I was in game during the "accidental " reset and yes I did start purchasing large amounts of items. I agree with the reset as it was accidental but I am a bit offended being labled an exploiter. The same thing was done a while back and it was legitimate and I seen nothing that showed me this one was any different. I was starting to think a biannual reset might have been taking place. My apologies Anet. Perhaps in the future a general heads up by Anet relating to any possible market changes would be wise.
